What is reach on Facebook?
Reach is the number of unique people who saw your content at least once. Impressions count every time it was shown, including repeat views by the same person, so impressions are usually higher than reach. Reach tells you how many different people you got in front of.
Reach vs impressions
- Reach: unique people. One person seeing your post three times counts once.
- Impressions: total times shown. The same person seeing it three times counts three times.
- Organic reach: unique people reached without paid promotion.
- Paid reach: unique people reached through ads.
Reach in Facebook groups
If you admin a group, Group Insights shows growth and engagement. If you post in groups you joined, you will not see the group’s analytics, so reach is harder to measure directly. Good stand-ins: comments and reactions on each post, the member count of each group and clicks on a tracked link.
Grow reach the right way
- Post in more of the right groups, not more often in the same one.
- Post when members are active. Try the best time to post tool.
- Write posts that invite comments.
- Measure outcomes, not just views, with outcome tracking.
What is the difference between reach and impressions on Facebook?
Reach counts unique people who saw your content. Impressions count every time it was displayed, including repeat views. If 100 people each saw a post twice, reach is 100 and impressions are 200. Reach shows how many people you got in front of, and impressions show how often.
How can I see the reach of my Facebook group posts?
If you admin the group, check Group Insights. In groups you joined, Facebook gives members little analytics, so track what you can: comments, reactions and clicks. A tracked link in the first comment shows how many people each group sends you, which is the number that leads to customers.
