Spintax tester & generator

A spintax tester checks a spintax template and shows you the versions it will produce before you post. Paste yours below to preview unique variations and see how many combinations you can generate. Use {option A|option B} syntax.

108 unique variations possible

What is spintax?

Spintax lets one post template produce many unique variations by swapping words and phrases wrapped in {braces|like this}. It is how you give each Facebook group its own version of a post without writing every version by hand.

How to use this spintax tester

It takes under a minute, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

  1. Paste or write your template

Type your post into the box and wrap the parts you want to change in braces, with the options split by pipes. For example: {Hi|Hello} neighbors, {spring cleanups|yard cleanups} are open this week.

  2. Check the combination count

The number under the box updates as you type. It multiplies the options in every set, so two sets of three options give you nine possible versions.

  3. Spin five samples

Press Spin 5 variations and read each one out loud. Every version should sound like something you would actually say. Press it again to see a new batch.

  4. Fix anything that reads oddly

If one option makes a sentence clumsy, change it or remove it, then spin again. When every sample reads well, copy the template into your post.

What the combination count means

The count is the number of different versions your template can produce. More is not always better. Ten good versions beat a thousand awkward ones. For posting to a handful of local groups, a template with enough versions that no two groups get the same wording is plenty. If the count shows 1, a brace is missing or a set has only one option.

Tips for spintax that sounds human

Spintax works best when every option is something you would genuinely say. A few habits keep it natural:

  • Swap greetings, openers and sign-offs, not your key facts like price or address
  • Keep each option the same length and tone so sentences still flow
  • Use two to four options per set; more rarely adds anything useful
  • Read at least five spun samples before you post
  • Avoid nesting more than two levels deep, it gets hard to proof
  • Keep your link and offer the same in every version

A spintax example for a local business

{Hi|Hey|Hello} {neighbors|everyone}! {Dana’s Lawn Care|We} {still have|have a few} {openings|spots} for spring cleanups this {week|month}. {Message me|Send me a message} for a free quote. This one template gives a lawn care company dozens of versions to send to its local groups, each with the same offer and the same contact details.

In PilotPoster

Let PilotPoster spin a version for every group

PilotPoster reads spintax in the post editor and gives every group its own version when the campaign runs. If you would rather not write the options yourself, switch the campaign to AI rewrite and it writes a different version of your post for each group in seconds. More responses, zero rewriting. See spintax in PilotPoster or AI rewrite.

FAQ

Spintax questions

What is spintax?

Spintax is a simple way to write many versions of a post from one template. You wrap alternatives in curly braces separated by pipes, like {Hi|Hello|Hey}. Each time the text is spun, one option is picked from every set, so you get a different version of the same message each time.

Why use spintax for Facebook group posts?

Many people belong to several of the same local groups, so seeing the exact same wording five times feels like spam. Spintax gives each group its own natural version of your message. Members get something that reads like it was written for them, and your posts look less copy-pasted.

Can I nest spintax?

Yes. You can put spintax inside spintax, like {I {love|really like}|We {enjoy|appreciate}} this. The tester resolves nested sets from the inside out and counts every path toward your total number of combinations, so you can see exactly how much variety a nested template gives you.

Why does my spintax show only 1 variation?

Usually a brace is missing or a pipe sits outside a set. Check that every { has a matching } and that each set has at least two options split by |. A single option inside braces, like {Hello}, counts as one choice and adds no variety to the post.

Is spintax the same as AI rewriting?

No. Spintax only picks from options you wrote yourself, so you control every word. AI rewrite creates new sentences from your post. PilotPoster offers both, one per campaign: choose spintax when you want tight control over wording, or AI rewrite when you want each group’s version written for you.

How do I use spintax in PilotPoster?

Write your post with spintax in the PilotPoster post editor, choose your groups and schedule it. When the campaign runs, PilotPoster spins a fresh version for every group automatically. You can test the template here first so you know every version reads well.
