What are pending posts in a Facebook group?
Pending posts are posts waiting for an admin or moderator to approve them before they appear in a Facebook group. They happen when a group has post approval turned on, or when Admin Assist or Facebook’s spam filtering holds a post for review. Until approved, other members cannot see them.
Where to find your pending posts
Members can check the status of their own posts from the group’s menu, where Facebook lists their pending, published and declined posts. Admins see a pending posts queue in their admin tools, where they approve or decline each one.
Why posts stay pending, and what it means for businesses
Pending is normal, not a penalty. Busy groups review every post, and admins approve in batches when they have time, sometimes hours or a day later. For a business, it means timing is less precise: a post meant for 9 a.m. may appear in the afternoon. Posts that break the rules may be declined instead.
Handle pending posts the right way
- Don’t repost the same post while it is pending. Duplicates annoy admins.
- Plan time-sensitive offers a day early in groups with approval.
- Follow the rules closely so approval is easy.
- Check your posting reports to see which groups hold or decline posts.
How long do Facebook group posts stay pending?
Until an admin or moderator reviews them, which can take minutes, hours or a few days, depending on how active the admins are. There is no fixed time. If a post stays pending for a long time, the admins may be busy or the post may not fit the rules. Avoid reposting it meanwhile.
Why is my Facebook group post pending?
Usually because the group has post approval turned on, so every member post is reviewed. Admin Assist rules or spam filtering can also hold posts, for example ones with links or from new members. It is a normal moderation step. Follow the rules, and approved posts appear in the group as usual.
